The ingredients needed to make Polenta idli:

  1. Get 1 cup corn meal/ polenta
  2. Take 1 cup yogurt
  3. Prepare 1 tsp baking soda
  4. Prepare 1/4 tsp ginger paste
  5. Make ready 1/2 tsp green chilli paste (optional)
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  7. Make ready 1/2 tsp urad dal (split black gram)
  8. Get 1.2 tbsp oil
  9. Take water to make batter
  10. Make ready to taste salt

Instructions to make Polenta idli:

  1. In a heavy bottom pan lightly fry cumin seeds,urad dal and polenta. Remove from heat and cool.
  2. In a bowl mix yogurt, ginger chilli paste and salt. Mix polenta and slowly add water to make idli batter. Batter should be thick as pancake mix. Add baking soda with 1/4 tsp of water and mix well.
  3. Grease idli plates and pour batter on it. Steam it for around 12-15 min. Check with a knife if idli is cooked in center.
  4. Remove plates, keep aside for a few minutes to cool.
  5. Serve with any chutney or Sambar.
