- Prepare Pinch salt

- Get 3 tbsp ghee
- Prepare 2 tbsp kishmish
- Make ready 2 tsp cardamom powder
- Get 2 tbsp grated coconut (optional)
Instructions to make Sweet ghee Pongal (chakkarai Pongal):
- Rinse moong dal with water, transfer to a pressure cooker and add water. Let it boil of medium for few mins.
- Wash and soak the rice with water.
- Once you see the moong dal froth up like this add the rice to this gradually and reduce flame to low.
- To the cooker add water and pinch salt.
- Cover and let it cook for 4-5 whistles.
- Roast cashews with ghee until lightly brown then add the kishmish and fry till it swells up. Don’t burn.
- Mash the rice well without lumps
- Chop the jaggery coarsely like this and mix well with rice dal mixture till it dissolves completely. Add cardamom powder or crushed cardamoms. Here you can add grated coconut is desired.
- Add rest if ghee and roast dry fruits now
- Mix thoroughly. Serve sausage.
